Paul Bowles (1910 -1999) was an American expatriate composer, author, and translator. Most widely known for his literary work including the novel “The Sheltering Sky” (famously made into a movie by Bernardo Bertolucci), he also studied music with Aaron Copland and created a large catalog of compositions including works for theater, opera, instrumental works, and song cycles.
